Description

Turks & Caicos Islands Postal History 1810-1945: A Grand Award Winning Exhibit (Grand Award Stamp Exhibits) by Peter P McCann PhD (Author), Steven Zwillinger (Editor)

The Turks and Caicos Islands were truly one of the tiny “backwaters” of the British Empire and even today are still a British Dependent Territory under the ultimate authority of a Governor appointed by London. The obvious postal history implication of this is that commercial mail from the earliest period known- the early 1800’s to the mid-20th Century only exists in very small quantities. Thus, the difficulty of acquisition is extremely high no matter what the price. The exhibit is divided into three chronological periods: 1810 -1899 covering the early and middle Victorian era, 1900-1936 with the late Victorian, Edward VII, and George V eras, and 1937-1945 George VI and World War II. Within each of the three sections postmarks, registration, postal cachets and official mail are shown with the last section also covering wartime censorship.Another great exhibit from Exhibitors Press.
